Only the Autotron allows collision repair professionals to remove all types of automotive glass without wire, knives or other mechanical devises.  All urethane is removed with the glass.  The pinch weld area is perfectly clean and ready for successive restoration steps.  Rubber encapsulated moldings are not damaged and the OEM clips and studs are 100% reusable.  Tempered automotive glass can be removed by 1 person in as little at 2 minutes.

The Autotron works by sending an electomagnetic field though the glass, molding and urethane.  When the field comes in contact with the metal pinch weld behind the glass, it becomes hot and causes the urethane to loose its bond.  The Autotron only heats metal and will not affect non-metals like glass, plastic, glue, or paint.

The interior trim is not damaged (no wire, knives or saws) and does not have to be removed in many cases.

Windshield Removal

Start by removing the molding around the windshield if possible.
Use the Glass Pro Inductor to heat the pinch weld behind the glass.
Start with the Glass Pro 4” away and parallel to the edge of the window. Move the Glass Pro towards the edged of the glass. The heat output meter will increase as the Glass Pro gets closer to the pinch weld.
Locate the pinch weld by watching the heat output meter on the front of the power source. When the meter peaks, the Glass Pro is located over the top of the pinch weld.
Apply pressure to the back of the glass with your hand to free the urethane from the pinch weld.
Insert a plastic wedge, such as the Autotron Pry Baby, between the urethane and the pinch weld. This will provide the necessary outward force needed for removing the windshield.
Continue to heat around the glass, and applying wedges as you go.
After a few minutes making your way completely around the glass, remove the glass and store it for later use.
Notice the clean pinch weld with no signs of urethane.

Quarter Glass Removal

Remove interior trim and any mechanical hardware attached to the back of the quarter glass. Apply heat to the pinch weld by placing the Glass Pro inductor on top of the glass over the pinch weld. Move in a back and forth motion to balance the heat. Heat until light smoke from the urethane is visible.
Apply outward pressure from the back of the quarter glass to break the bond between the hot pinch weld and cold urethane. Insert a polymer wedge behind the quarter glass, such as the Autotron Pry Baby polymer wedge (item #128834). The wedge will provide constant outward pressure to ease the removal process. Continue adding wedges as needed.
After heating completely around the perimeter of the quarter glass, the quarter glass can be removed with very little force. The encapsulated moldings and original clips are intact and not damaged. Removal time for this quarter glass was approximately 5 minutes. Removal time will vary with operator experience and make/model of vehicle.
The pinch weld is completely clean and free of residual urethane. Only minimal prep is required before re-installing the window (for R&I applications). The paint is not blistered or burned. Rear Glass Removal

The Autotron is ideal for the removal of rear automotive glass, especially those with complex curves and contours. The Autotron performs work that can’t be done with traditional glass removal tools. Body shops save significant money and keep profits in house by removing their own glass. Salvage yards increase profits by removing glass without causing damage.
Start by applying heat to the pinch weld by placing the Glass Pro inductor on top of the glass above the pinch weld. The heat output meter on the Autotron power source can be used to locate the pinch weld. It’s generally best to start in an upper corner. Apply even heat to 12” on each side of the corner until light smoke is visible from the urethane.
Apply outward pressure from the back of the glass to break the bond between the hot pinch weld and cold urethane. Insert a polymer wedge behind the glass, such as the Autotron Pry Baby polymer wedge (item #128834). The wedge will provide constant outward pressure to ease the removal process. Continue adding wedges as needed.
The Autotron Pumper inflatable wedge (Item # 129225) can be used in place of polymer wedges. The Pumper can provide up o 3” of lift, and 200 pounds of force distributed over a 12” area. A single Pumper can apply enough lift to allow the glass to be removed without adding additional wedges or relocation of the pumper.
After heating all the way around the perimeter of the window, the glass can be easily removed with very little effort. Removal time for this rear window was approximately 15 minutes. Removal time will vary with operator experience and make/model of the vehicle. The window is removed without damage and can be later re-used.
The pinch weld area is clean and completely free of residual urethane. Only minor prep work is required before re-installing the window. The paint is not blistered or burned.
The urethane is removed with the glass, which can be easily removed with a scraper. The glass is not damaged. For additional assistance, please contact your local Autotron sales representative.
